Networking Solutions

The ability to access centralised data stores, revolves around networking.

There are predominantly two types of networking. Local Area Networking (LAN) and Wide Area Networking (WAN).

Local Area Networking (LAN)
using the latest switching technology can greatly improve the network performance within your companies IT structure. Products from Cisco, Netgear and 3Com provide fast and robust connections.

Speeds will differ depending upon the technology deployed. These currently range from 54mb for wireless technology to 1gb for LAN technology.

Wide Area Networking (WAN)
If you need to connect two or more sites within your organisation, you need to deploy a VPN connection either over a xDSL or dedicated link.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)
The need to work with greater flexibility at faster and faster speeds has resulted in the inevitable growth of VPN based solutions.

VPN is essentially a method of creating a secure virtual tunnel from one point on the Internet to another. Although the data passes over the Internet, this information is very secure due to high encryption methods deployed by our chosen firewall vendor, Sonicwall or Draytek.

A VPN enpowers your business so that you can enable your staff to work from home or on the road. Using VPN technology we are able to link two or more geographical offices together. The benefits of this are huge and include centralised data stores, reduced IT spend, reduced management, etc, etc.

It may however, not be enough to just integrate a site to site VPN link. With the massive growth of the internet and services being delivered across it, many of our customers are finding that their VPN performance can sporadically be affected.

With the deployment of bandwith management, we can accurately tell you which applications are running across the internet at what speed and at what times. In addition, we can allocate a percentage of your bandwidth to a business critical application ensuring that outside influences such as Peer2Peer downloads or mass email mail merges do not adversely affect the WAN application or service.
